Te Atatū indie-rock band – Originals. Covers. Energy!
Sidetracked is a five-piece indie-rock band from Te Atatū, Auckland. The band first started playing music together at Te Atatū Intermediate and has since built a reputation for original songwriting, powerful performances and infectious energy.
In 2026, Sidetracked reached the Smokefree Rockquest National Finals, earning awards for Best Song and Best Vocalist. These achievements recognised the band’s growing reputation as one of New Zealand’s leading emerging youth bands.
Blending driving guitars, bass, drums, keys and standout vocals, Sidetracked writes and performs original music and their own versions of some classics that is both energetic and memorable. Whether on a local stage or in front of a national audience, the band brings passion, creativity and authenticity to every performance.
The band was formed through Tatmuze and continues to be supported by John Kennedy, Izak Kennedy and also the team at Lila School of Bands.
