After getting through the Auckland Central final, we had to submit a video of 3 original songs, so we spent a day at Hobsonville Point Secondary School using the studio spaces there to perform and record a performance of all three songs (I like you, Lifesaver and The Way You Do It).
The video was the product of all the hard work and help from wonderful people such as Finn Wilson for lights, Zane Egginton for filming and colour grading, Bella Bavin for her support, and Rawiri, who did all the sound and audio!
The video entry went through a long and rigorous judging process, but after a couple months, we found out that from over 1,000 bands that competed in Rockquest, we’d made the top 20 along with Crying Ivy, also from AKL central heats. A few day later and the top 8 from the final round of judging was announced, long story short – we’re going to Wellington in September for the Rockquest National Finals! We are so incredibly stoked and grateful to have been selected, and since finding out, have been in boot camp mode preparing for the finals day performance on the 18th of September at the Great Hall in Wellington.
